From 01.07.2020 on, new tax rates will apply in Austria. Summarized in one sentence: 5 percent VAT on all food and drinks in your restaurant!
The "gastronomy package", which also applies from 01.07.2020, was passed in mid-May, providing a reduction in the VAT rate for non-alcoholic beverages from 20% to 10%. On 22/23 June 2020, however, the Austrian Federal Government decided to apply 5% to the VAT rates of all food and beverages for the hospitality business. This is expected to apply until 31.12.2020 (status: 25.06.2020).
Lucky for you as an orderbird PRO customer, you have a super easy way to update all your tax rates while complying with all tax regulations: You can simply activate the automatic update of tax rates for all relevant items in your menu.
What do I have to do now?
On MY orderbird you can activate an automatic update of your stored tax rates of your orderbird POS system from the 30.06.2020 on. All items in your menu card, for which 20% or 10% tax rates are stored, will be updated.
All tax rates of your family groups and items will be updated, regarding their current tax rate and their super family group:
|Current tax rate is exactly…||Automated change of the tax rate to...|
This means you can only have VAT rates of exactly 20.00 percent and 10.00 percent changed automatically. Tax rates deviating from this, e.g. expense items, are not changed! This applies to both family groups and items of differing tax rates, e.g. 0.00 or 10.1 percent.
Note: The stored prices for family groups and items will not be changed!
After the automation, you have to check all tax rates for their correctness! This is your responsibility and you can be held legally accountable for this.
