Use the orderbird Registration Assistant Reporting Deadlines Longtime orderbird PRO customer? I already have a TSS. Do I still need to register my POS system?

If you prefer to report your POS system with TSE to the tax office yourself, you can find an official guide from the Federal Ministry of Finance on reporting electronic recording systems (eAS).

Use the orderbird Registration Assistant

Alternatively, you can use the orderbird Registration Assistant to report your POS system. With just a few clicks, you can fulfill your reporting obligation: Fulfilling Your Notification Obligation (Mitteilungspflicht) with the orderbird Registration Assistant

Reporting Deadlines

The law requires that you register your POS system ("reporting obligation"). Since 2025, the following rules and deadlines apply:

  • Start of the reporting process: Available from January 1, 2025
  • Deadline for new POS systems: All systems purchased on or after July 1, 2025, must be reported within one month.
  • Deadline for existing POS systems: Systems purchased before July 1, 2025, must be reported no later than July 31, 2025.
  • Exception for Decommissioned Systems: If you have purchased orderbird PRO before July 1, 2025, and it was already decommissioned by that date, please contact your tax supervisor for further information.
  • No exemptions from the reporting obligation: Except for taximeters, there are no exemptions. Leased and rented POS systems must also be reported, just like purchased ones.
  • Reporting is only possible digitally: The reporting must be submitted digitally via "Mein ELSTER" or the ERiC interface. Alternatively, an XML file can be uploaded to www.elster.de – or soon simply and conveniently through orderbird. We will of course keep you informed.

Longtime orderbird PRO customer?

If you're part of our loyal customer base, the reporting deadline for existing POS systems as of July 1, 2025 is relevant for you. You can use the orderbird Registration Assistant to report your POS system in just a few clicks:  Fulfilling Your Notification Obligation (Mitteilungspflicht) with the orderbird Registration Assistant.

I already have a TSS. Do I still need to register my POS system?

Yes, absolutely! The TSS protects your POS system against tampering. By registering your POS system, you officially report your entire POS setup (meaning every device running the orderbird PRO app) to your tax office.
