What works in Fallback Mode — and what doesn’t
Whether a feature is available depends on whether the internet is down or there is a disruption with orderbird. The following table shows you what works in each case.

Fallback Mode Cannot Be Started
❓ Do you only see a loading icon under Main Menu > Swarm > "Sync Tables" in orderbird PRO that doesn’t disappear?
✅ Quickly turn on Airplane Mode on your iPad or iPhone and turn it off again. The loading icon should disappear.
Printing in Fallback Mode
You can print production tickets and receipts (without TSE signature) as long as you’re using a local orderbird network or a router with a local network:
- Start Fallback Mode.
- Ensure you’re connected to your local orderbird working network.
- Done.
Unsigned Receipts in Fallback Mode
Please note that the internet-based TSE signature will not be printed. The legislator does not require retroactive signing of receipts. You don’t need to take any further action — your POS system remains compliant with the Cash Register Security Ordinance (see What should I do if I suddenly have internet issues with my TSE?).
Internet Connection Restored
As soon as orderbird PRO can reconnect to MY orderbird, the following will happen:
- ✅ Card payments will be automatically reactivated
- ✅ Menu and settings changes are once again possible
- ✅ The journal syncs itself
Table Synchronization Only with New Shift
Table synchronization will only be reactivated once a new shift is started. orderbird PRO will remind you to enable table synchronization again.

✅ How to Exit Fallback Mode
- Close the current shift.
- Start a new shift.

Tap "Enable" when asked "Enable table sync?".
- Done
