How do I register myself for FinanzOnline.at? Need assistance or facing delays? Let your tax advisor support you. What do you receive after registering on FinanzOnline.at?

To notify the tax office of your business, you must register with FinanzOnline.at. Typically, your tax advisor handles this for you and is familiar with the process.

How do I register myself for FinanzOnline.at?

For those managing registration independently, we’ve summarized the key information from the tax authorities:

  • Solo proprietorship
… can register online easily at https://finanzonline.bmf.gv.at by clicking on “Online-Erstanmeldung”. Alternatively, you can register in writing or in person at the tax office.
  • Partnerships and legal entities
… have to overcome an extra step: the registration requires an in-person visit to the tax office. Ensure you have the following documents handy:
    • Fully completed registration form 'FON 1' (in German)
    • Proof of company representation rights (e.g., company register excerpt, articles of association, statutes).
    • Official photo ID (driver's license, passport, ID card or disability passport).

Need assistance or facing delays? Let your tax advisor support you.

Both sole proprietorship and partnerships/legal entities can be represented by an authorized person (e.g., your tax consultant) if a notarized special power of attorney is provided.

What do you receive after registering on FinanzOnline.at?

If the registration is successful, you will receive your access data from the tax office:

  • Teilnehmer-Identifikation (TID)
  • Benutzer-Identfikation (BENID)
  • Persönliche Identifikationsnummer (PIN)

These credentials are provided either in person at the tax office or sent via return receipt letter (Rückscheinbrief, RSa). It is best to keep the access data for FinanzOnline.at together with the other login data in the overview of your RKSV login data, codes and IDs.

Congratulations, you now have all the necessary access data for your FinanzOnline.at registration. You're already one step closer to setting the second step towards a tamper-proof cash register. In the next step, we will show you how to create a user for the Registrierkassen-WebService on FinanzOnline.at.
