New law, new questions: We have summarized the most frequently asked questions for you. Answering all the questions in the first e-mail would have made it far too long...

This list is not exhaustive, as it will continue to grow. So if you have any other questions that are not yet listed here, just e-mail us at help@orderbird.com.

Why are you working with fiskaltrust?

Fiskaltrust is currently one of Austria’s leading providers of tamper protection with a secure cloud solution that ensures:
    •    Your cash register works even during fiskaltrust or FinanzOnline server issues.
    •    Audit-proof storage in Austria, eliminating the need for quarterly manual backups.
    •    Easy implementation of legal changes without additional costs.

If you have any questions about fiskaltrust, contact us at help@orderbird.com or +431361022499, and our support team will be there for you and, if necessary, liaise with fiskaltrust on your behalf.

I already have a FinanzOnline account. Why do I need a separate FinanzOnline user account?

To use the “Registrierkassen-WebService” it is essential to enable this functionality for the respective user. However, the Federal Ministry of Finance does not provide clear guidance on whether this feature can be added to an existing user account.

After consulting with tax advisors in Austria, we recommend creating a separate user specifically for this purpose. This approach ensures compliance and provides peace of mind, allowing you to remain on the safe side.

What if I don’t have an ATU/UID number?

In this case, you can also use your tax number or GLN (Global Location Number) instead.

How much does it cost, and why is it necessary?

There are two packages you can choose from: The Sorglos-Paket costs €359 per year, while the Basis-Paket costs €199 per year. Here you can find out in more detail which package is best for you: What does my purchased package from fiskaltrust include?

Our implementation requirements are based on guidelines set by the Federal Ministry of Finance. These include obtaining a certificate from a trusted service provider, managing a separate cloud service, and ensuring external, audit-proof data storage in Austria. As a result, there are some additional costs involved on our side.

What if I am an offline customer?

You can use the system offline without any issues for up to 48 hours. After 48 hours, however, you’ll need to notify the tax office about the register failure.

To avoid this, simply connect the iPad to the internet via a hotspot once a day, or take it home each evening to sync the data there.

What penalties exist for not registering the cash register?

Failure to comply with the tamper protection requirements may result in fines of up to €5,000.

Which trust certificates does fiskaltrust use?

Fiskaltrust previously worked with certificates from A-Trust. However, since September 6, 2017, we now offer a signature creation unit from PrimeSign for the certification of cash registers.

Are there exceptions to the cash register obligation?

The good news: There are some exceptions! Whether your gastronomy business qualifies for one is best determined by your tax advisor. However, based on our experience with customers, we know that this particular exception comes up quite often:

If your annual turnover from “outdoor sales” is up to €30,000 (net), you are not subject to the Registrierkassensicherheitsverordunung or the related security regulations.

What are “outdoor sales”?

These refer to sales from stands or stalls in public areas, such as on streets or squares, with no connection to enclosed premises. Examples include umbrella bars, chestnut vendors, Christmas tree sales, and similar businesses. If your annual turnover exceeds €30,000, you’ll need to purchase and use a cash register within three months.

Why do I always have to be online with my cash register?

To ensure your cash register complies with the RKSV, you’ll need a stable internet connection, or you must connect your register online at least once every 48 hours.

When connected to the internet, your invoice data will be automatically stored in an audit-proof manner via fiskaltrust, and your invoices will be signed with a QR code.

It’s also important to go online within seven days after any outage to report the failure, or to trigger the automatic failure notification through fiskaltrust if needed.
